Text Collector will not receive updates after 2025, but to ease the transition for those who rely on it, can be installed from this direct download:

The direct download does not require purchase and will be available here indefinitely; in principle, it could continue to collect messages forever, but unpredictable Android changes are likely to break it within a few years.

It’s been reported that Android 16 already blocks it, but that may only be on Google’s Pixel phones.

Why is it unavailable on Google Play?

Google now refuses my updates, then, because I haven’t recently published on their store, Google blocks the download on recent Android (version 15 and later). They require periodic updates for apps to remain listed, so Google will eventually remove Text Collector from their store entirely.

Can I keep using the Google Play version?

Yes, so long as it’s already installed on your phone, Google probably won’t remove Text Collector. Sooner or later, your phone will update to a version of Android that breaks it though; when this will happen is unpredictable.
