The direct download does not require purchase and will be available here indefinitely; in principle, it could continue to collect messages forever, but unpredictable Android changes are likely to break it within a few years.

Why is it unavailable on Google Play?

The version on Google’s app store, is slightly older, so they don’t allow it on recent Android (version 15 and later).

Google will eventually remove Text Collector from their store because it’s not receiving updates. They require periodic updates for apps to remain listed, yet they also block updates to Text Collector. Since they refuse the updates they require, they are slowly banning it.

Can I keep using the Google Play version?

Yes, so long as it’s already installed on your phone, Google probably won’t remove Text Collector. Sooner or later, your phone will update to a version of Android that breaks it though; when this will happen is unpredictable.
